TechTV (Louisiana Tech University)

TechTV is a 24-hour Cable television channel for students of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, featuring news and shows about Louisiana Tech affairs and events. Originally titled "ResTV", the information-based television channel started off as a Public-access television cable TV channel for university students. The channel is provided by Suddenlink Communications.
Samuel Speed started ResTV in 2000. The channel quickly became known as Techtv. The channel grew considerably and started featuring Hollywood films as provided by the ResCinema distribution company for universities nationwide. In October 2011 TechTV ceased airing all Hollywood films due to budget cuts and quality control issues, and has since begun to decline dramatically in popularity.
The university's channel shared the TechTV name with a major national channel dedicated to technology, though TechTV was absorbed by G4 and no longer exists.
==Services==
TechTV provides services to on-campus organizations only. The most common method to advertising on TechTV is via promotional slides which plays throughout the day when a video or movie is not playing. Each slide rotates every 8 seconds with music played in the background. Quality control issues render most of these slides being illegible and underutilized. The second option is to submit a video commercial to be played on the channel, which is played between the movies during original programming.
The station is most known for the 24 hour "snake-a-thon." During these 24 hours, there was nothing shown but pictures and videos of snakes in their natural wildlife. This sparked the attention of local and national media, and the creator of the "snake-a-thon" was featured on an episode of The "O'Reilly Factor" on FOXNEWS.
